Safety is of paramount importance to Mordt Engineering and with this in mind, we appoint an approved professional structural engineer to oversee the design and installation of every type of frameless glass balustrading application. There simply is no compromise when it comes to delivering and installing our premium range of frameless glass balustrading systems.

Does my Frameless glass system need a handrail?

Mordt Engineering’s frameless glass systems are all subject to load testing. The general guideline is that side mounted frameless glass systems require a handrail offering additional structural support. Chemically embedded panels however offer sufficient support and a handrail in most cases is not necessary with this application.

How thick does the glass have to be?
A minimum thickness of 12mm toughened safety glass is used for our frameless glass systems. The specification does increase and is dependent on the building classification. eg. Residential or Commercial.
What is the safest frameless glass system?

The combination of 2 toughened glass panels together to form 1 panel is the safest system. Eg. 2 x 6mm panels, 2 x 8mm panels or 2 x 10mm panels.
