Frameless Glass

Frameless glass adds an innovative new dimension to balustrading. The free standing, sturdy glass panels create a feeling of spaciousness and provide the ultimate in sophisticated living. We have a trained and dedicated team that specialise in the installation of frameless glass balustrading.  We use 15 mm toughened safety glass panels.  Should the client opt for 12 mm toughened safety glass (15mm TSG) panels. We would suggest incorporating a handrail to add stability and strength.  Chemical anchored fixings or side mounted bracket fixings are the conventional means of fixing.

Safety is of paramount concern to Mordt Engineering and with this in mind, we adhere to the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act (NBRB).  When we engage in frameless glass balustrading, we appoint an approved professional engineer to oversee the work and issue a certificate of compliance to the NBRB Act on completion of the project. The engineer underwrites safety of the frameless balustrade and makes sure that it can withstand an impact of 400 joules.  If there are uncertainties regarding the fixing method a sandbag impact test is undertaken, afterwhich a certificate of competency is issued.
